Lasting Impressions in 3D is a world-touring media experience that combines the richly colorful paintings of French Impressionists with the rich orchestral music of Debussy, Ravel, and popular chanson and American songs about Paris. Designed by Ed Kasses with support from Sophie Renoir, the audience experiences an incredible multidimensional journey into the paintings of Monet, Seraut, van Gogh, etc’s original paintings. Thanks to the digital artistry and deep respect for the art work, each painting has been painstakingly disassembled and re-rendered in 3D space, offering us a view of the painters’ world. It is as if we are at the same time within the paintings’ world of color and form and the hearts and imaginations of their creators. Combined with the music of Debussy and Ravel, and French songs made famous by Edith Piaf, Charles Aznevour, Nana Mouskouri and Frank Sinatra, creating an utterly satisfying experience of beauty.
What my company, I Love Joy LLC, was asked to do is re-create the music for a live show with orchestra. This involved finding rights holders for each piece and song from the original and then expand them for large orchestra. I was fortunate to find six fine arrangers from Central Florida take the original, well-loved studio recordings and convert them to full orchestra and tenor.
